About Us
Lamplighter Society of the Paris Community YMCA

“Who are lamplighter Society Members?”

The Paris Community YMCA are certain group of people who

help our YMCA in a very special way: They have made provisions

that, after they pass on, the YMCA will receive monies or property

from their estates, or will be the beneficiary of an insurance policy

or any several other financial instruments.

In this way they keep our YMCA aglow in the dark night of scal

challenge and help insure that our members and programs

will continue on safely. They are compassionate stalwarts of our

community.

Members in the Endowment and/or the Lamplighter both

fund the future of our YMCA. The difference being with

the Endowment you are making a contribution now

with current assets you have and with the Lamplighter you

are including the YMCA in your Estate Plans to help fund

your YMCA at the time of your passing.

Endowment Fund of the Paris Community YMCA
Tell me about the YMCA Endowment.”

In the Spring of 1982, Isaac P. Zimmerly, Judge Carl A. Lund, Paxson
Link, U. Gordon “Bud” Colson and Roger Fruin pooled their
collection talents to start a YMCA Endowment Fund. This
Endowment Fund is set up to secure the future of the YMCA and
the principle cannot be invaded for any reason.

In 1982, $55,000 was collected from friends and associates of
these five pioneering gentlemen and the YMCA Endowment
provided $2, 150 for YMCA programming and operations. The
Endowment Fund has grown each year and in 2006 $21, 600 was
distributed to the YMCA. Had it not been for the foresight of Mr.
Zimmerly, Judge Lund, Mr. Fruin, Mr. Link and Mr. Colson, many
YMCA programs and services would not have been provided.
To date the YMCA Endowment has enriched Paris by well over
$500,000.
